Environmental Impact Cycle

Reducing carbon, minimising waste, building a cleaner future.

At Oscrete, environmental responsibility is embedded in every stage of our operations. From the initial formulation of our admixtures to the final delivery and reuse of packaging, we take a holistic approach to reducing our ecological footprint. Sustainability isn’t a single action — it’s a continuous cycle of improvement, innovation, and accountability.

We’ve identified five key stages in the life cycle of our products, each offering a unique opportunity to make a positive environmental impact:

  1. Conception & Design
  2. Manufacturing
  3. Distribution
  4. Consumption
  5. Reuse & Recycling

This page offers a snapshot of our efforts — but for a deeper dive into our strategy, achievements, and future goals.

Conception & Design

Our admixtures are formulated in our state-of-the-art laboratory to enhance concrete performance while supporting sustainability goals. By enabling the use of supplementary cementitious materials, our products can help reduce the embodied carbon of concrete by up to 40%.

Research and development is at the heart of our environmental strategy. We work closely with our customers to optimise mix designs, reduce CO₂ emissions, and push the boundaries of eco-friendly construction.

Manufacturing

As a responsible manufacturer, we prioritise sustainable production practices. Through electrification and process optimisation, we’ve significantly reduced our reliance on fossil fuels.

We’re proud to be accredited to ISO 14001, the internationally recognised Environmental Management Standard. This ensures we maintain systems that actively reduce our environmental impact.

Our recent installation of an array of solar panels at our Bradford site marks a major step forward in our renewable energy journey — showcasing our commitment to long-term sustainability.

The remaining electricity that we purchase comes from a supplier using a mix of renewable energy guarantees of origin and nuclear declarations with a zero-carbon certificate that backs 100% of our purchased electricity.

Distribution

Efficient logistics are key to reducing emissions. We optimise transportation routes and use Euro V and VI vehicles for bulk and packaged deliveries.

Our dedication to efficient distribution reflects our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. Our sustainability brochure contains more details on our ongoing commitment to reducing logistics emissions.

Consumption

Our technical and customer service teams work closely with clients to ensure efficient product use. From bulk tank storage advice to extensive laboratory and site trials, we help customers reduce waste and improve sustainability on-site.

Our admixtures allow for lower cement usage without compromising performance — helping customers reduce the carbon footprint of their concrete products while improving quality and durability.

Reuse & Recycling

We actively participate in the collection and reuse of IBCs. Our dedicated FOC reuse programme ensures packaging is collected, cleaned and repurposed wherever possible.

By embracing circular economy principles, we minimise landfill waste and promote responsible resource management across our operations.

Every stage of our product lifecycle is an opportunity to do better — for our customers, our communities, and our planet.
