Hopkins Estates Concrete is a professional concrete, aggregate and muck away company providing high quality aggregate and concrete supply services for domestic and commercial customers in the South West of England.
Founded in 1972, the business has over 50 years of expertise in the construction sector and today includes property development, arable farming, sheep farming and has an extensive portfolio of residential, retail and commercial properties across Somerset and Dorset.
With four volumetric concrete trucks that mix concrete onsite and a wet batch concrete plant on the way, as well as a fleet of over 40 steel body tippers for the removal and disposal of inert muck away, Hopkins Estates Concrete began working with Oscrete in 2023 and in January of this year, joined the Oscrete team at our Bradford HQ for a tour of the site and to look at a new materials package and produce batch books for the production of concrete.
Commercial manager Adam Palmer said: “We started working with Oscrete for the supply of admixtures in 2023 – the team supplies all of our admixtures and fibres and provides specialist advice and training to help us navigate the complexities of creating the highest performing concrete mixes.
“Three members of our team recently visited the site to spend a day in the labs with Dean, Michael and Kieron to get a better understanding of concrete testing while observing and getting hands on with experiencing just how different admixtures impact on the mixes in terms of performance, strength, durability, and longevity.”
Our recently expanded research and development laboratory and production facilities offers an expert team of Institute of Concrete Technology-qualified technicians who specialise in mixing, trialling and sampling on behalf of customers to bring our product and construction goals and visions to life.
Adam added: “It was a great insight and we have taken all of our learnings back to our team. Our customers are in the ground works, civil engineering, agriculture and highways industries so it’s important that we fully understand the intricacies of the mixes we are selling and what is appropriate for each customer.
“Cost savings and environmental impact is top of the agenda for all of our customers and the time we spent at Oscrete undertaking training with their knowledgeable team means we can share a new depth of knowledge when talking and selling to our customers which we wouldn’t have without seeing the admixture lab process in action at Oscrete. We will be back!”
Technical Sales Manager Ian Crocker who introduced Oscrete to Hopkins Estates Concrete in 2023 said: “We are always delighted when our customers are keen to learn from our training and be involved in the trials here in our R&D lab. Hopkins Estates Concrete is a highly valued customer and working together onsite in Somerset and here in Bradford is an invaluable investment in the shared goal of creating top quality and high performing admixtures to benefit their business and customers.
