Fibo Collect is an automated concrete dispensing station, offering a drive-through service to customers wanting to purchase smaller loads of freshly prepared concrete, mortar or screed. In September 2023, it was adopted by Carvers Building Supplies to help the company’s strategic move into the ready-mix market. Here, Purchasing Director Richard Boult, talks about the company’s venture into a new sector and the importance of working with the right admixture supplier.

“At Carvers we wanted to add value to products that we have generally classed as commodity products and give flex to our customers’ purchasing abilities while making savings on labour costs and waste.

“With Fibo Collect, consistency and ease of access to the product for our customers is key and the pre-programming of mixes and recipes mean there is no variation in the output. That said, our dispensing station can only be as good as the ingredients used in the recipes that our customers self-select for collection and we have a trusted and reliable supplier in Oscrete, whose quality admixtures and aggregate is what ensures a perfect dispense every time.”

Referring to the six months since Carvers’ “soft launch” of Fibo Collect in September 2023, Richard says that customer feedback and satisfaction has been excellent and adds that the support of Oscrete in the early days of set up was critical.

“We needed the technical support in the early days and once the recipes and mixes were established we’ve been able to manage the process independently – while knowing that the Oscrete team is only a phone call or a visit away. We undertook site trials with Oscrete over a three-week period here in Wolverhampton and the team’s experience, advice and guidance was invaluable over this time.

“So far we have had only positive customer feedback, no negative comments and importantly for us, lots of repeat business. We have new and existing customers returning time and time again and everybody is delighted with the service.”

Richard adds: “Without Oscrete products, we couldn’t produce the concrete, mortar and screed that our customers now rely on us to supply via the Fibo Collect select and collect dispensing station. This really is the future of our sector and as a trusted building supplies business, we are delighted to now be able to offer a bespoke collection service meaning customers no longer have to mix on site or get a delivery.
